Basketball Recap: Madison Takes a Loss

Madison played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Avery County Vikings and fell 65-23. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-10.

Sarah Ball was Madison's leading scorer, having posted six points. Layla Rhinehart held things down on the boards with six rebounds. Anna Barnette took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Avery County found their leader in sophomore Marley Jones, who went 7 for 11 to rack up 19 points and three steals. Jones is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Hallie Johnson, who posted 11 points and six steals.

Madison's record now sits at 7-14. As for Avery County, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Madison wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 59-28 victory against Rosman on the 5th. As for Avery County, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 66-27 win against Owen on the 7th.
