Softball Game Preview: Blissfield Royals vs. Erie-Mason Eagles

The Blissfield Royals are taking a road trip to take on the Erie-Mason Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Erie-Mason took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Blissfield, who comes in off a win.

Blissfield's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Tuesday. They came out on top against Hudson by a score of 5-0. The Royals haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Tayler Ickler's shutout, as she gave up just two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Blissfield let Brooklyn Fetzer and Kaitlin Bloom run wild. Fetzer went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double, while Bloom went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. Gabby Conger also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Meanwhile, Erie-Mason was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against Summerfield, falling 17-1. The contest marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Erie-Mason saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Gotha-Hart, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Blissfield's victory bumped their record up to 5-6. As for Erie-Mason, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Blissfield took their win against Erie-Mason in their previous meeting back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 16-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
