Basketball Recap: Elkhart Christian Academy Beats Mishawaka Marian for Their Fifth Straight Win

Elkhart Christian Academy entered their tilt with Mishawaka Marian on Tuesday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Mishawaka Marian Knights 57-36. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven games by 21 points or more this season.

Elkhart Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Lily Maxwell out in front who went 6 for 15 en route to 17 points and three steals. Maxwell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last three games she's played. Kyla Yordy was another key player, putting up 12 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.

Mishawaka Marian's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kariya Byer, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 boards. The dominant performance also gave Byer a new career-high in assists (four). Reese Carver also deserves some recognition as she scored her first points of the season.

Elkhart Christian Academy's victory was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.3 points per game. As for Mishawaka Marian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.

Elkhart Christian Academy will welcome LaVille at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
