Baseball Recap: Mishawaka Marian Has No Trouble Against South Bend Riley

Mishawaka Marian won the last time they faced South Bend Riley and things went their way on Thursday too. The Knights were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Wildcats. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Evan Maloney made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mishawaka Marian is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 8-14 otherwise. Maloney was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season.

In other pitching news, Eric Unwin looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.
