Softball Recap: Southern Lee Takes a Loss

Southern Lee was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pinecrest Patriots. The Cavaliers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Patriots earlier this season, when they won 17-14.

Maggie Lucas made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Lexi Britton also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Southern Lee's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Pinecrest, they moved to 3-12 with that win, which also ended their nine-game losing streak.

Coming up, Southern Lee will face off against Hoke County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bucks have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Pinecrest, they will square off against Montgomery Central at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Timberwolves have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season.
