Softball Recap: East Wake Comes Up Short

East Wake lost against West Johnston back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The East Wake Warriors fell 6-2 to the West Johnston Wildcats. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Madison Keith spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, East Wake saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Katelyn Smith, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

East Wake's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for West Johnston, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season.

East Wake will venture away from home to challenge Rolesville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Wake is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.6 runs per game this season. As for West Johnston, they will head out on the road to square off against Corinth Holders at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Corinth Holders also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 10.5 runs per game.
