Zionsville gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They blew past the Pike Red Devils 27-7. This was payback for the Eagles, who suffered a 31-20 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Sam Manna had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 191 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 11.2 yards per carry. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 72-yard run. Speaking of playmakers, who could forget Liam Salapka, who went all the way with a kickoff return for a touchdown.

Another reason for the win was Zionsville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Roman Barth, Peter Monahan, and Noah Alt, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Coming up, Zionsville is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Lawrence Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Pike, they will take on Crown Point at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
