The Genoa Area Comets will venture away from home to square off against the Elmwood Royals at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Genoa Area has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Emersen Bickel was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was her first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Elmwood). They put the hurt on Pandora-Gilboa with a sharp 21-0 victory on Friday. While the Royals didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-11), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Allyie Reynolds made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Reynolds was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
In other pitching news, Natalie Blake looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
Back at the plate, Libbie Tyson was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Dakota Rader-King was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Elmwood hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pandora-Gilboa struck out nine times.
Elmwood is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Genoa Area, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Genoa Area couldn't quite finish off Elmwood in their previous meeting back in May of 2023 and fell 4-2. Can the Comets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
