Basketball Game Preview: Haltom Buffalos vs. Sam Houston Texans

The Haltom Buffalos will venture away from home to take on the Sam Houston Texans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Haltom is coming into the match on a six-game losing streak.

Haltom is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against South Grand Prairie on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Haltom lost 64-44 to South Grand Prairie. While losing is never fun, the Buffalos can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 641st, while the Warriors are ranked 76th).

Meanwhile, Sam Houston lost to Martin on the road by a 56-38 margin on Tuesday. The loss continues a trend for the Texans in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now lost three in a row.

Haltom's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Sam Houston, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.

Haltom was able to grind out a solid win over Sam Houston in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, winning 68-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Haltom since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
