Soccer Game Preview: Amundsen vs. Vernon Hills

The Amundsen Vikings will face off against the Vernon Hills Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Amundsen heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Tuesday. They fell just short of Saint Viator by a score of 2-1.

Meanwhile, Vernon Hills fell victim to New Trier and their airtight defense last Tuesday. They lost 9-0 to the Trevians. While losing is never fun, Vernon Hills can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 156th, while New Trier are ranked third).

Amundsen's loss dropped their record down to 9-7-2. As for Vernon Hills, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-8-2.
