Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Escambia couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They fell just short of the Clay Blue Devils by a score of 2-1 on Monday. The Gators' loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.

Escambia saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Stone, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Escambia's defeat dropped their record down to 23-6. As for Clay, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season.

While Escambia had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
