Softball Recap: Red Bluff Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Red Bluff's game on Monday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Enterprise Hornets by a score of 10-5. Considering the Spartans' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Natalie Newport and Mattison Kwarta made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Newport tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. Meanwhile, Kwarta tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Newport has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. At the plate, Newport went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Kwarta got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most stolen bases Newport has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Serenity Miranda, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run. Those hits marked the first that she has got this season. Natalee Ross was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

The win snapped Red Bluff's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-11-1 record. As for Enterprise, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Red Bluff will take on Shasta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans are facing the Wolves at the right time seeing as the Wolves are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Enterprise, they will square off against Chico at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Hornets' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
