Pittsfield took a 11-run  loss the last time they faced off against Westfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Generals had just enough and edged out the Bombers  6-5. This was a revenge game for the Generals: when they faced off against the Bombers  back in April, they had to take a  13-2  defeat.
 Ava McMahon spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned  (and one unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in three consecutive appearances.
 On the hitting side,  Ella Bassi was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two  stolen bases, two  RBI,  and one  run. That's the most  hits  she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of  Paxton Ebling, who  went 1-for-4 with one  home run and two  RBI.
 They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pittsfield  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 11  hits. They are  a perfect 6-0 when  they post 11 or more  hits.
Pittsfield's win was  their third straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 6-7. The  road  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Westfield,  this is the second loss in a row for them and  nudges their season record down to 6-5.
 Coming up, Pittsfield will head out to  challenge Mount Anthony  at 11:00  a.m.  on Saturday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their  fourth straight  win, something the Generals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Westfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Greenfield  at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday.
