Baseball Recap: Laney Takes Down Jordan in a Playoff Battle

Laney had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jordan Falcons on Friday, sneaking past 10-8. Ten seems to be a good number for the Buccaneers as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Jason Sproull made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Jack Holliman was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. TJ Ziermann was another key player, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.

The win (which was Laney's 19th in a row) raised their record to 23-4. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Jordan, with the defeat, they broke their nine-game winning streak and moved their record to 18-8.

As of now, neither Laney nor the Falcons have any future games scheduled.
