Baseball Game Preview: Somerset Briar Jumpers vs. Trinity Shamrocks

The Somerset Briar Jumpers will challenge the Trinity Shamrocks at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Somerset 3.6, Trinity 1.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Somerset is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since April 19, 2024 on Friday. They lost 9-2 to Pleasure Ridge Park. The Briar Jumpers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Somerset saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Poyntr, who scored two runs while going 1-for-1.

Meanwhile, while Trinity put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Male. Trinity blew past Male 7-0. The result was nothing new for the Shamrocks, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.

Trinity's victory was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Somerset, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
