Basketball Recap: South Takes a Loss

South easily dispatched Tehachapi on Friday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The South Spartans fell just short of the Liberty Patriots by a score of 59-56 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Spartans have suffered since December 13, 2024.

Liberty's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but JAYDEN RAYA led the charge by putting up ten points. The dominant performance gave RAYA a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of BRYCE HANSON, who went 6 of 11 en route to 15 points.

South's loss dropped their record down to 17-10. As for Liberty, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-18.

South does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they will take on Stockdale at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.2 points per game this season.
