Baseball Game Preview: Nogales Nobles vs. Duarte Falcons

Nogales has gone a perfect 10-0 against Duarte recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Nobles will challenge the Falcons at 3:30 p.m. Nogales will be strutting in after a victory while Duarte will be coming in after a defeat.

Nogales' pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They walked away with a 4-0 win over Garey. That four run margin sets a new team best for the Nobles this season.

Not much got past Nathan Lopez, who gave up just four hits and racked up eight Ks to keep Garey off the board. Lopez has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Xavier Ortega, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Jonathan Blacklock also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Duarte didn't have quite enough to beat Azusa on Thursday and fell 7-5. The Falcons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Duarte's loss dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Nogales, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-10.

Everything went Nogales' way against Duarte in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Nogales made off with a 12-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Nobles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
