Baseball Recap: Bluegrass United Victorious

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Bluegrass United ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They skirted past the Casey County Rebels 8-7.

Bailey Hawkins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-5 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Caeden Brothers was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Bluegrass United's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-2 (and 2-9 when he doesn't). Batman (Brayden) Hawkins was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Bluegrass United's win bumped their record up to 6-11. As for Casey County, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-12.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bluegrass United will face off against Burgin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Casey County, they will challenge Pulaski County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
