Basketball Game Preview: Hoover Huskies vs. Grace Christian

The Hoover Huskies will face off against Grace Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Friday, 2025 welcomed Hoover with a 61-35 loss courtesy of Hurricane. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while the Redskins are ranked 12th).

Despite the defeat, Hoover saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Bella Haas posted five points in addition to seven assists and five boards. Those seven assists set a new season-high mark for Haas. Another player making a difference was Allison Casto, who had eight points.

Even though they lost, Hoover smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Grace Christian lost to Green on the road by a 56-38 margin on Saturday.

Grace Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Hoover, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
