Basketball Game Preview: Oakwood Lumberjacks vs. Archbishop Alter Knights

Oakwood is 0-3 against Archbishop Alter since February of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Oakwood Lumberjacks will take on the Archbishop Alter Knights at 7:00 p.m. Oakwood knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matchups -- so hopefully Archbishop Alter likes a good challenge.

Oakwood is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 65-58 win over Taft.

Meanwhile, Archbishop Alter came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victor by a 58-35 margin over the Yellowjackets. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 23 points or more this season.

Oakwood has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 67.9 points over those games. Archbishop Alter's victory bumped their record up to 19-6.

Oakwood lost to Archbishop Alter on the road by a decisive 76-61 margin when the teams last played back in December of 2021. Can Oakwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
