The Avon Lake Shoremen will head out to face off against the Westlake Demons at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Westlake took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Avon Lake, who comes in off a win.
Avon Lake took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 12-9 win over Highland. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Shoremen considering their two-run performance the contest before.

Shane Street made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Street was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Hicov, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted over his last 11 matches. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Bobrowski, who went 2-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base.
Avon Lake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only posted an OBP of .351.
Meanwhile, Westlake fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Steele on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Comets by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Demons couldn't push the score so high this time.
Westlake saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake Jung, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Avon Lake is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Westlake, they moved to 11-8 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
Avon Lake couldn't quite finish off Westlake in their previous meeting back in April of 2021 and fell 4-2. Can the Shoremen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
