Basketball Recap: Ryder Niewenhuis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Andes Central/Dakota Christian over Wagner

After soaring to 55 points the game before, Andes Central/Dakota Christian was a bit more limited in their game on Thursday. They came up short against the Wagner Red Raiders, falling 54-29. Andes Central/Dakota Christian hasn't had much luck with Wagner recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.

Andes Central/Dakota Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ryder Niewenhuis, who posted nine points and seven boards. Niewenhuis is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last six games he's played. Garth Maas was another key player, putting up four points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Andes Central/Dakota Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Andes Central/Dakota Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Wagner, their victory bumped their record up to 9-6.

Andes Central/Dakota Christian has already played their next contest, a 61-20 win against Colome on the 7th. As for Wagner, they will challenge Sanborn Central/Woonsocket at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
