Basketball Recap: Westminster Beats Brighton for Their Second Straight Win

Westminster won the last time they faced Brighton, and Naomi Saldana did her part to make sure it happened again. The Westminster Wolves blew past the Brighton Bulldogs 45-22 on Thursday thanks to Saldana, who posted 22 points and four steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least 22 points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Desiree Stoddard, who put up five points along with 11 rebounds and five steals. She is becoming a predictor of Westminster's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 11-5 (and 1-4 when she doesn't).

The win made it two in a row for Westminster and bumps their season record up to 12-9. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 3-18 Brighton and 7-11 Northglenn. As for Brighton, they dropped their record down to 3-18 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Westminster will welcome Boulder at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Brighton, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Northglenn at 7:00 p.m.
