Millard South is 1-9 against Millard North since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Millard South Patriots and the Millard North Mustangs will meet in a classic North v. South matchup at 7:15 p.m. Millard South knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 11 matches -- so hopefully Millard North likes a good challenge.
Millard South is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Lincoln East: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Millard South blew Lincoln East out of the water with a 62-34 final score. Given the Patriots' advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Spartans are ranked 133rd), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Millard South's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Koby Meyers, who went 5 of 8 on his way to 15 points and three steals, and Owen Anderson, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 16 points. Meyers is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Margheim, who posted eight points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Millard North). They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging an 84-31 victory over Columbus. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Millard South better keep an eye on Derek Rollins. He was instrumental in Millard North's win, dropping a double-double on 19 points and 11 boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Deacon Courtney, who made all 5 shots he took to post 11 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks.
Millard North smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.
The win (which was Millard North's third in a row) raised their record to 7-3. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.3 points per game. As for Millard South, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's game: Millard South has made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having averaged 8.7 three-pointers per game. However, it's not like Millard North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9.7 three-pointers. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Millard South came up short against Millard North in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 73-64. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rollins, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 12 rebounds.
