Game recap: Northmont High School Football Team beats Wayne

CLAYTON, Ohio - Wayne (Huber Heights, Ohio) came into Saturday's contest ranked No. 22 in Ohio, but was stunned by Northmont (Clayton, Ohio), 14-11. Northmont was ranked at No. 103 in the MaxPreps Freeman Rankings for Ohio coming into the week.

The lead that the Thunderbolts took on a Jalen Christian touchdown run with 2:00 to go in the first quarter stood up for the duration of the game, as neither team managed to score in the second half.

Northmont got six points from its defense on the way to victory.

Kenny Bester made a difference for the Warriors. The junior running back ran for one touchdown.

Wayne's lone touchdown came on a 4-yard run by Bester in the first quarter.



NHS had given up an average of 17.6 points prior to the contest.

The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which WHS took, 51-30.

The defeat comes as a step back for Wayne, which notched a 23-13 victory over Fairmont in its previous outing. The loss snapped the Huber Heights school's 2-game winning streak. With the win the Clayton school extended its winning streak to three games.
