Green-Beckham, Jordan Walker produce monster numbers in openers.

It's early, but here's a glance at players who could contend for MaxPreps.com National Player of the Year honors and burst out of the gates with big performances;

Johnathan Gray, Aledo (Texas): The Bearcats' 29-game win streak was snapped Friday night in their season-opener against Stephenville, 48-47. Gray, a Texas verbal commitment, ran 28 times for 218 yards and four touchdowns.

Dorial Green-Beckham, Hillcrest (Springfield, Mo.): MaxPreps.com's top-ranked 2012 recruit exploded out of the gates with 18 catches for 284 yards and three touchdown receptions in a 48-26 victory.

Robert Nkemdiche, Grayson (Loganville, Ga.): Nationally-ranked Grayson improved to 2-0 with a 49-21 win over Edgewater, scoring on its first six possessions in a thorough beating. Nkemdiche recorded a sack for the second week in a row.

Jordan Walker, Rockhurst (Kansas City, Mo.): The 5-foot-11, 190-pound senior running back tore off 400 yards on 33 carries in a season-opening 35-20 win over Blue Springs. Walker reached the end zone a fifth time with a pass reception.

Travis Wright, Trinity (Louisville, Ky.): The Shamrocks are one of the hottest teams in the country in the early going, outscoring a pair of Tennessee foes 111-28. Wright completed 16 of 17 pass attempts for 336 yards and five touchdowns in a 66-21 win over Montgomery Bell Academy on Friday.
Wright is completing 80 percent of his passes through two games, connecting for eight touchdown passes without an interception.
