Basketball Recap: Charlestown's Victory on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Seven

A well-balanced attack led Charlestown over Heritage Hills in every quarter on their way to victory on Saturday. The Charlestown Pirates blew past the Heritage Hills Patriots 79-54. The Pirates have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 25 points or more this season.

Anthony Fresh was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 13 en route to 20 points along with five assists and five boards. The game was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grason Connell, who posted nine points and four steals.

Heritage Hills' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Colten Hopf, who went 7 of 13 on his way to 17 points, and Tait Wetzel, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. That's the most points Hopf has posted since back in December of 2023. Peyton Gray was another key player, putting up 13 points.

The victory was the seventh in a row for Charlestown, bringing their record for this year to 8-1. As for Heritage Hills, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Charlestown will square off against Seymour at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Charlestown is facing Seymour at the right time seeing as Seymour is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Heritage Hills, they will challenge Gibson Southern at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gibson Southern is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season.
