Recap: Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets vs. Brooks County Trojans
The Thomas County Central Yellow Jackets won the last time they faced the Brooks County Trojans, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Thomas County Central came out on top against Brooks County by a score of 40-29. Given Thomas County Central's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 77th, while Brooks County is ranked 310th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Thomas County Central's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Travesha Giddens, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Tia Floyd, who scored 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Thomas County Central's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 17-6. As for Brooks County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Thomas County Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Northside at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Thomas County Central is facing Northside at the right time seeing as Northside is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Brooks County, they will head out on the road to challenge Colquitt County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Colquitt County will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Brooks County surely won't give up without a fight.
