Basketball Preview: Marissa/Coulterville Meteors vs. Christopher Bearcats
Marissa/Coulterville has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Christopher Bearcats at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. Marissa/Coulterville's defense has only allowed 26.4 points per game this season, so the Bearcats' offense will have their work cut out for them.
Last Thursday, Marissa/Coulterville came up short against the Bulldogs and fell 42-33. Marissa/Coulterville has struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as their game on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Christopher's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They took a hard 53-39 fall against Goreville. While losing is never fun, Christopher can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Blackcats are ranked 98th).
Marissa/Coulterville's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for Christopher, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 15-13 record this season.
Marissa/Coulterville came up short against the Bearcats in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, falling 33-23. Can Marissa/Coulterville avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
