Softball Recap: Slippery Rock Find Success

Slippery Rock took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Hickory, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Rockets skirted past the Hornets 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Rockets have posted since May 15, 2024.

The team relied heavily on Lillian Campbell, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Savannah Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Slippery Rock's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-8. As for Hickory, their record is now 3-6.

The future could be bright for both Slippery Rock and Hickory: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. The Rockets will try to hand Oil City their eighth-straight defeat when the two meet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
