Softball Recap: Del Oro Starts off Right with Win over Placer

Del Oro gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They never let the Placer Hillmen onto the board and left with an 11-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Golden Eagles in their matchups with the Hillmen: they've now won three in a row.

Del Oro got a great performance from Mikayla Finn as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Chloe Champas was a standout: she went a perfect3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Avyn Brower, who went a perfect3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one double.

Del Oro always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .560. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Placer only posted an OBP of .158.

Placer is on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Del Oro will have a chance to go back-to-back against Placer: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
