Basketball Recap: Quincy's Loss Ends 23-Game Winning Streak at Home

Quincy and Bishop O'Connell (ranked 63rd and 43rd in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile contest on Saturday. The Quincy Blue Devils took a 53-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bishop O'Connell Knights. That makes it the first time this season the Blue Devils have let down their home crowd.

Bishop O'Connell was led to victory by Shane Lincoln and Darius Bivins. Lincoln went 6 for 11 on his way to 18 points and seven boards, while Bivins went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points. Lincoln has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Justin Edwards was another key player, putting up four points and three steals.

Quincy's defeat ended a 23-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 19-2. As for Bishop O'Connell, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Quincy has already played their next game (against Galesburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Bishop O'Connell will square off against St. John's at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bishop O'Connell is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.
