The Flagler Palm Coast Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Spruce Creek Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Flagler Palm Coast has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight defeats, while Spruce Creek will come in with seven straight wins.
Last Friday, Flagler Palm Coast didn't have quite enough to beat Bishop Snyder and fell 10-9.
Flagler Palm Coast got a good showing from Brody Mcginty, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit.
At the plate, Marion Clayton made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Flis, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.
Even though they lost, Flagler Palm Coast lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Spruce Creek got themselves on the board against Timber Creek on Friday, but Timber Creek never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Wolves with a sharp 8-0 victory. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten matches by eight runs or more this season.
Not much got past Garrett Grant, who gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks to keep Timber Creek off the board. Grant has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Nathan Ricko and Justin Cronin did most of the damage at the plate: Ricko scored three runs while going 3-for-4, while Cronin scored a run while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Lamar Edwards, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.
Spruce Creek's record now sits at 17-2. As for Flagler Palm Coast, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
Flagler Palm Coast might still be hurting after the 17-0 defeat they got from Spruce Creek in their previous matchup back in February. Can Flagler Palm Coast avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
