Softball Recap: Three Straight Home Wins for Austintown-Fitch

Austintown-Fitch had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They never let the Strongsville Mustangs get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Falcons have won 16 matches by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Kaliana Ray, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three doubles. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high. Alyssa Rodgers was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

Austintown-Fitch was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in five consecutive contests.

Austintown-Fitch's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 20-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games. As for Strongsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-14.

Coming up, Austintown-Fitch will face off against Jackson at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Strongsville does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
