Baseball Game Preview: Monsignor Pace Spartans vs. Somerset Academy Panthers

The Monsignor Pace Spartans will be playing at home against the Somerset Academy Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Monsignor Pace has three straight wins, Somerset Academy has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Tuesday, Monsignor Pace made easy work of Dr. Krop and carried off a 16-4 victory. That looming 16-4 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.

Aiden Rivero tossed a big game, striking out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Those 11 strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Robert Kramer was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double. Rudy Marichal was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

Monsignor Pace hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dr. Krop struck out 11 times.

Meanwhile, Somerset Academy suffered their closest defeat since March 11th on Friday. They fell just short of NSU University by a score of 6-4.

Matthew Fari?as made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Sierra, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2.

Monsignor Pace's win bumped their record up to 13-7. As for Somerset Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-13.

Monsignor Pace came up short against Somerset Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
