Softball Recap: Union Pines Falls to Triton in First Game of Season

Union Pines unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Triton Hawks on Tuesday. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Hawks recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Union Pines got a good showing from Kaylee Wilder, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.

On the hitting side, Madison Stein made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Kileigh Cameron was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.

Union Pines didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-8 defeat against Apex on the 26th. As for Triton, they have also already played their next game, an 11-2 loss against Cape Fear on the 26th.
