Baseball Recap: Charlotte Gets the Win

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Charlotte walked away with it. They came out on top against the East Bay Indians by a score of 9-4 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Fighting Tarpons.

Charlotte gave Race McDaniel the start and clearly made the right call: he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. McDaniel has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. Rylan Bradley relieved him and did a solid job, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Wes Stines was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Jakob Wagner was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Charlotte was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Bay only posted a batting average of .261.

Charlotte's record now sits at 19-8. As for East Bay, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-10.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Charlotte beat the Indians by a score of 12-8 on Saturday.
