Baseball Recap: Northwest Comes Up Short

If Northwest was feeling good fresh off their 15-0 takedown of Stover on Wednesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mustangs lost 12-5 to the Smith-Cotton Tigers on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Mustangs in their meetings with the Tigers: they've now lost three in a row.

Northwest now has a losing record of 11-12. As for Smith-Cotton, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 19-14 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northwest will take on Pilot Grove at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Mustangs' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Smith-Cotton, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Capital City at 5:30 p.m.
