Softball Recap: Elton Comes Up Short

Elton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They came up short against the Hathaway Hornets, falling 23-7. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2025.

Kynzleigh Myers was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Myers was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Kaya Francis was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that she has snagged this season. Addyson Linscomb was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Elton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Hathaway, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-5.

Coming up, Elton will look to defend their home field on Monday against Midland at 5:00 p.m. The Indians will need to watch out since the Rebels have now posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season. As for Hathaway, they will venture away from home to square off against Bell City at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
