Basketball Recap: Carmine Carrillo's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Pomona over Ganesha

Pomona was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 57-35 to the Ganesha Giants. The Red Devils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Giants earlier this season, when they won 63-52.

Several Red Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carmine Carrillo, who shot 4-for-7 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alejandro Rodriguez, who posted five points along with 11 boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Pomona smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in four consecutive matches.

Pomona's defeat dropped their record down to 1-12. As for Ganesha, with the win, they broke their 19-game losing streak and moved their record to 1-18.

Pomona will square off against Workman at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Workman knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 26 contests -- so hopefully Pomona likes a good challenge. As for Ganesha, they will face off against Edgewood at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
