Central hasn't had much luck against McClintock recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bobcats will be playing in front of their home fans against the Chargers at 3:45 p.m. Central has given up an average of 16.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Central is headed into Monday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 14th straight game dating back to last season on Thursday. They came up short against Carl Hayden Community, falling 14-0. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 26, 2021, but that streak is no more.
Meanwhile, McClintock never let their opponents score on Thursday. They put the hurt on Fairfax with a sharp 13-0 win. With that victory, the Chargers brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Javier Alvarado made a splash no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because McClintock is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-7 otherwise. Alvarado was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Markus Lopez, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Elias Baldwin was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
McClintock kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
McClintock has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-10.
