Softball Game Preview: Green Bobcats vs. Portsmouth Trojans

The Green Bobcats will venture away from home to challenge the Portsmouth Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Green has given up an average of 11.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when Green challenged Clay on Monday. The Bobcats came up short against the Panthers, falling 16-0. The Bobcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Portsmouth was able to grind out a solid victory over Fairland on Monday, taking the game 6-2.

Katie Ankrom spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Caitlyn Galloway, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Amya Carr, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Portsmouth hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive matchups.

Portsmouth's record now sits at 6-10. As for Green, their loss dropped their record down to 4-10.

Green suffered a grim 16-4 defeat to Portsmouth when the teams last played back in April of 2018. Can the Bobcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
