Basketball Recap: Wheatland's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

Wheatland won the last time they faced Montrose and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wheatland Mules took down the Montrose Blue Jays 36-22. Given the Mules' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Blue Jays are ranked 260th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Wheatland pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.0 points per game. As for Montrose, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-7 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheatland will square off against Halfway at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Montrose, they will challenge Bronaugh at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
