Softball Recap: Shadow Ridge Wins High-Profile Matchup Against Liberty

Shadow Ridge faced Liberty in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mustangs came out on top against the Patriots by a score of 9-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 two weeks ago.

Katelynn Quidato spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on 11 hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Madison Foster was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Rosely Hensley-Mokiao was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Shadow Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matches.

Shadow Ridge's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-7. As for Liberty, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-7-2.

Shadow Ridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Liberty, they will be playing at home against Basic at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season.
