Baseball Recap: Pioneer Comes Up Short

If Pioneer was feeling good fresh off their 19-6 takedown of Culver Community last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Panthers fell just short of the North Miami Warriors by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Panthers were not able to make up for their loss to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Eli Guffey was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Guffey is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Brodie Howard, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.

With the defeat, Pioneer broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-2. As for North Miami, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

While Pioneer had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
