Preview: Manchester Lancers vs. L.C. Bird Skyhawks
The Manchester Lancers are on the road again on Thursday and play against the L.C. Bird Skyhawks at 7:15 p.m. on December 7th. Manchester has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 254 points over their last three contests.
Last Tuesday, Manchester took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 80-13 win over Powhatan.
Meanwhile, L.C. Bird put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They strolled past Cosby with points to spare, taking the game 55-38. Given L.C. Bird's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while Cosby is ranked 35th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
L.C. Bird got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Trinity Dale out in front who scored 13 points along with 6 steals. Dale is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Aliyah Elliott was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
James River Midlothian's victory bumped their season record to 0-0 while Manchester's defeat dropped theirs to 1-1.
Manchester couldn't quite finish off L.C. Bird in their previous matchup back in February and fell 54-51. Thankfully for Manchester, Kyah Smith (who scored 23 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
