It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but St. John Paul II ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They skirted past the Kate Duncan Smith DAR Patriots 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Falcons have posted since March 1st.

Skylar Mullins spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits. Those hits were her first of the season.

On the hitting side, Emily Leahy was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. Sophia Damen was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

The victory made it two in a row for St. John Paul II and bumps their season record up to 4-10. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 4-9 Brindlee Mountain and 12-14 Kate Duncan Smith DAR. As for Kate Duncan Smith DAR, they dropped their record down to 12-14 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home.

Coming up, St. John Paul II will be taking part in a tournament against Asbury at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Kate Duncan Smith DAR has already played their next match (against Brindlee Mountain), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
