Basketball Recap: McQueen Comes Up Short

McQueen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They had to suffer through a 62-26 loss at the hands of the Spanish Springs Cougars. The Lancers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-10.

McQueen's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brooklyn Pimpl, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Pimpl a new career-high.

Even though they lost, McQueen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive matchups.

Leading Spanish Springs to victory were Mackenzie Chase and Aaliyah Vance. Chase went 6 of 8 on her way to 14 points in addition to six assists and four steals, while Vance went 6 for 9 en route to 13 points and four steals. Chase has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 24 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Addison Bowers, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

McQueen's loss dropped their record down to 3-21. As for Spanish Springs, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season.

When McQueen and Spanish Springs next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. McQueen will try to stop Reno's ten-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Spanish Springs will take on Reed and their three-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
