Basketball Game Preview: Honaker Tigers vs. Union Bears

The Honaker Tigers will be home for the holidays to greet the Union Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Last Friday, Honaker came up short against Tri-Cities Christian and fell 66-58.

Despite the loss, Honaker got top-tier performance from Alayna McNulty, who dropped a double-double on 29 points and 14 boards. The contest was McNulty's third in a row with at least ten points. Julianna Farmer was another key player, putting up ten points along with six blocks and five boards.

Even though they lost, Honaker smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 20 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Union also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to J.I. Burton by a score of 57-44.

Union's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Honaker, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-1.

Everything came up roses for Honaker against Union in their previous matchup back in February, as the squad secured a 58-30 victory. Does Honaker have another victory up their sleeve, or will Union turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
