Baseball Recap: Bridgeton Takes a Loss

Bridgeton extended their losing streak to five on Thursday, dropping them down to 3-12. They came up short against the Atlantic City Vikings, falling 19-6. Surprisingly, this marked the third straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.

As for Atlantic City, their victory bumped their record up to 3-10. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for they considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

For Atlantic City's part, Adel Villegas made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Villegas was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gino DeLorenzo, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Miguel Sanchez, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Looking ahead, Bridgeton will challenge Clayton at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Clippers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.8 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Atlantic City, they will face off against Cape May County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
